Are you ready for the best filmed fairytale ever?

There are many good old fantasy movies, no doubt about that. One very good one is Princess Fantaghirò, at least the first 4 parts of it.
The best filmed fairytale has to be Tri Orisky Pro Popelku (English titles:Three Wishes for Cinderella, Three Nuts for Cinderella or Three Acorns for Cinderella; German title: Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel)!
This movie, which is a Czech/East German production filmed in 1974, is a modern adaption of the popular Cinderella fairytale (Brothers Grimm). Cinderella (or Popelku, or Aschenbrödel) is a lot more emancipated and self-confident in this version. For instance, in one scene she throws snowballs at the prince to keep him from hunting animals, and then she miraculously disappears. All in all, she acts very cheeky and mysterious, which always leaves the prince puzzled and trying to find out who she could possibly be. It is only in one of the final scenes that he finds out that the girl in the woods is also the girl he fell in love with at the ball. It is always he who is desperately trying to find her because this Cinderella is harder to get than the average Disney cinderella.
Nevertheless, this adaption remains quite true to its original story. You get the evil stepmom, the prince's parents who want him to marry, and a dusty-faced Cinderella who is forced to work all day. Libuse Safránková is absolutely beautiful and portrays a princess-to-be that every little girl can identify with. One should also add that this is not an American barbie Cinderella whose real face is hidden beyond x litres of makeup. She is more of a Audrey Hepburn type:

Of course, what would a fairytale be without good music? The main theme of Three Wishes for Cinderella is simply beautiful. Unfortunately, I do not own the original soundtrack (there seem to be many versions). However, Thomas D., a pianist from Munich, has recorded a new version of said theme song. You can download it on his website, which also contains a sad version of the theme song. Or: download the correctly tagged version here for audioscrobbler purposes! If I happen to find the original version, I will post it later, but this one is very similar! Enjoy!

Edit: This movie is ever so popular in Germany, which is why it is shown on TV around Christmas every year. In fact, it will be broadcasted 12 times between November 27th and January 1st!
